A new year and new totals of wintering birds round the Humber with at least 60 - 70 individuals present
Images of various birds taken during the year most of them locally.
Some pairs are now roosting and wintering close to their breeding territories and hence display and courtship can be seen from January onwards . The 6cy male and 3cy+ female below have been doing a lot of displaying of late but a new female is also in the area and the male has been mating with both females though a 3cy male that was in the area seems to have abandoned his attempt to move in for now at least. Will the very old, 17 year old male and 13+ year old female that usually breed locally return to kick these birds out of their territory later this month?
