This week long trip produced more decent bird images than any other trip I have undertaken for the time on the ground and yet oddly I have never been back something that must be remedied if and when we get mobile again. The light was superb most of the time getting a bit too hot on the last two days and the birding was just amazing with the numbers and variety of species outstripping most places in the Eastern Mediterranean including Cyprus where I have been on many occasions. The birds were generally quite tame and approachable and the 500mm lens was at times a bit of overkill. Added Kruper’s Nuthatch and Olive-tree Warbler to the life list and in addition to the birds the invertebrates were great with some superb butterflies and odes including my first Dark Spreadwings, Odalisques and Small Pincertail.
