A trip timed around kid’s availability and avoiding the worst of the school summer holidays and not timed for the best birding period but some nice birds and close encounters with Humpback Whales and Orcas on a whale watching trip out of Victoria with Eagle Wings from which I also managed some passing shots of an Ancient Murrelet from the speeding boat. The summer period also produced some nice odes with Campbell River fish hatchery producing Blue-eyed Darner, Cardinal Meadowhawk and Eight-spotted Skimmer. The first returning Least and Western Sandpipers were also notable. Good number sof Marbled Murreletes were off Campbell River but always too far out for images.
